Class Day Level 1

Toady's class was great. There were 3 students and everyone was very excited to be here.
To keep things interesting I let everyone take turns reading out of the International Center for Reiki training manual.
I have found that it keeps things  more interesting, instead of me just talking or reading from the book.
During key points I would stop them and elaborate on the subject.
I also feel that reading out loud you retain more.
After a nice lunch we began our afternoon sessions with attunements.
I do attunements one at a time. I do this because I believe that its a very special ceremony and I like to make it more personalized.
I was attuned in a large group setting and that was fine, but I like private ones better.
That is also why I only like a small class. I usually limit it to 3 or 4 students.
Smaller classes are better to stay on track. easier if people start talking among themselves easier to get them focused again.
we then had practice time.  everyone was worried that they didn't have their reiki turned on, But, I tried to explain that you have to use it to feel it.
I always have a follow up class, I have a final exam and a class evaluation sheet for them to fill out.
The exam is only about 10 questions that are very general there is no pass/fail, it's just so I know that they understand some of the basic info about reiki
At the follow class I run it like a reiki circle.
Just sharing their experiences after they started to use reiki.
They are instructed to use in on themselves for the 30 between the classes.
I hope they all have some positive experiences before then
I also allow anyone who wants to practice on others to come over and use my room, or just come and have a reiki session.
It's always such a good feeling seeing a student just attuned giving a reiki session.
I don't advertise classes and only do them if someone expresses an interest to take one.
I've had some reiki circles with other students, but with all the busy schedules, and some not living local it was hard to have them on a regular basis.
I want to try and have them again soon.

Getting ready for class

Well, I'm pretty well set for tomorrows class.  I did and outline so I can keep everyone on track.
It's really been a while since I've taught a Reiki Level 1 class.
I went though all my Reiki material I didn't realize how much I had until I started putting some folders together. I also have tons of books on Reiki and magazines.  I don't like to throw any of my Reiki magazines away and I have been getting it for years.
I have the dining room table set with folders and paper and pens.
I only have one classroom book to teach out of.  Usually, I order enough for each student to have their own, but didn't have time to order them this time.
I will have each student take turns reading out of the one book, this way the material won't sound boring and everyone will stay on track.
I have my living room set up with a massage table for practice time and for attunements and for meet and greet.
I will start the class of with a centering mediation to relax everyone and get some focus for the morning session.
After a light lunch we will start the afternoon session.
Hope all goes well.

Reiki Class June 1st

I will be teaching a Reiki level 1 class on Monday June 1st. It's been a few years since I've taught a formal class. I have had a few classes informal for some family members that didn't want to go to a whole class.
I'm a little nervous about teaching the class, but know that on Monday morning I will be guided on what to talk about.
I use the International Reiki book to teach my classes, it's a great resource.
I always get a little nervous about giving the attunement when I have a formal class.
I'm always afraid that I will forget a step. But, as always with Reiki it's all about intent and has always worked on each student.
I also have such a hard time with pricing my classes. I have heard others say this too.
I do have to agree with all that I have read about what to charge that it has to be in line with prices in the area.
I do give a special rate to family and close friends and a discount to nurses or health professionals as a courtesy.
I used to do a one day class and give a certificate at the end of class, but, now I have a follow-up class.  It is scheduled for 30 days after the first class and it is a review of all the material we went over in class. I have a short exam just to make sure that the material was understood and a short question and answer period.
I think it works out better for my student this way.  I like to feel that everything was understood and that they practiced their new skills on themselves for at least the 30 days.
Then we have some practice time and a little ceremony to pass out their certificates.
Everyone has liked the follow up class, especially sharing their Reiki stories.

Interesting response about the Catholic Church and Reiki

bit of a better story about the Catholic Church and Reiki.

Wanja Twan, one of Takata's 22 Masters, taught several Catholic nuns and priests in Poland in the early 1990s; some up to Master level. I met some of them in Canada at the Reiki Alliance conference in 1993.

They had all asked for the Polish Pope John Paul's blessing to learn and teach Reiki and had received it.

Wanja said that she saw a framed letter on the wall of one of the Priests' office from the Pope himself giving his blessing to the priests.

Now she wished she had had a camera or photocopier handy!

Later in his life, while suffereing from Parkinson's disease and other ailments of old age, the Pope received Reiki regularly; some say even daily.

I didn't research this article. Thought it interesting and wanted to share.
What's your opinion??

Reiki for Animals

I'm teaching a Reiki Class on June 1st. I have a student interested in Reiki for animals.
She has a dog with some health problems.
I use Reiki on my 2 dogs a few time a week.  They both love it.
My female pekinese StellaMary is 5 now and she has been getting regular Reiki sessions since we got her at 2 months old. She had a few health issues as soon as we got her. She spent a night at the vets on IVs and we decided to take her home and nurse her to health.  I gave her daily sessions and had to give her water with a dropper, also had to feed her every two hours with a high calorie paste.
She did great and is very healthy except for occ. urine infections and has crystals in her bladder.
the vet thinks it is from the dog food she was on. Her infections are fewer than they were before.
I now make all my own dog food and both dogs are doing great.
My male dog is a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel he had a lot of problems when we got him but recovered nicely.
I love his reaction to Reiki sessions. As soon as I put a hand on him he has this look like he is waiting to feel something and as soon as he does he just has such a contented look in his eyes and lays right down and goes to sleep.
He can feel the Reiki even if I don't put hands on and starts to hit my hand.
If anyone has any Reiki animal stories to share or any suggestions on material to use on my class please feel free to post it.
